The AFP Northeastern PA chapter is presenting a panel on Corporate and Foundation Relations in a Slow Economy. Now more than ever, nonprofits and charitable organizations need the support of corporate and foundation funding to survive. During times of cutbacks and charitable giving slow-downs, AFP is providing a venue for you to ask questions to key leaders in the grantmaking field in our region.

Job Opening: Osterhout Free Library

Join the Osterhout Free Library as our Development Director. This is a full-time position, 37 hours/week, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.

The library serves a diverse and growing population, and works toward enriching the community in a variety of ways. As Development Director, you will be in charge of fundraising, grant research and writing, and building and retaining donor relationships. Bachelor’s degree is required, plus three years experience. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle are required.

Salary range is $35,000 – $45,000, based on experience and qualifications. The Osterhout Free Library offers a generous benefits package, and is an equal opportunity employer.

POSITION TITLE:   Academic Grant Writer
CLASSIFICATION:   Professional
DEPARTMENT:   Academic Affairs
POSITION REPORTS TO:  Vice President for Academic Affairs

JOB FUNCITON: Under the direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Academic Grant Writer is responsible for working closely with faculty members to identify their research interests and scholarship endeavors; for researching and identifying funding opportunities that match research interests/scholarship endeavors; for assisting with the development of grant applications, ensuring that all agency-required materials are included with the application (e.g. updated curriculum vitae); submitting grant applications/proposals in a timely fashion; and, once a grant is awarded, facilitating the initial meeting between the principle investigator/project director of the grant and the assistant comptroller. The Academic Grant Writer trains faculty on how to develop the components of a grant proposal including needs assessments, sustainability plans, goals and objectives, and budgets. The Academic Grant Writer stays abreast of state and federal laws, regulations, and eligibility requirements. When appropriate, the Academic Grant Writer works in collaboration with the Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants in the Division for Institutional Advancement in order to avoid potential duplication of efforts.
