What are the National Philanthropy Day Awards?

A NEPA Fundraising Community Tradition

The National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon is an annual event that honors a select set of deserving difference makers. The decades-long tradition has a number of award categories that recognize outstanding people and organizations, with the goal of celebrating and thanking the community's agents for good.

The event itself is timed to coincide with National Philanthropy Day, an annual day designated by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as a celebration of charitable activities. It's organized by AFP NEPA Chapter and awardees are chosen by a nominations committee that consists of AFP NEPA Chapter board members and past awardees.

This year's National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at The Woodlands Inn, 1073 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre. Tickets are $50 or $45 for chapter members and include lunch. Purchase tickets via Eventbrite here.

Last year's award recipients included (from right): Outstanding Corporation InterMetro, Outstanding Foundation the Robert H. Spitz Foundation, Outstanding Philanthropist Charlotte Casterline, Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Maryla Scranton, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers Diane and Mark Michalczyk, and Outstanding Fundraising Professional Lauren Pluskey McLain.

Add Your Favorite Community Champion to the List

If you know a person or organization you think should be next, you have until July 28 to submit a nomination! That may not seem like a lot of time, but luckily, it's easy to do. There's no formal application—just provide a narrative that tells us why your choice is the right one for the award in question. Your narrative can be up to two pages in length and can be accompanied by up to eight pages of supporting documents.

We're looking forward to honoring a new class of awardees, and we invite you to join us in November!
